Humanoid AI

While humanoid AI are not the main type of AI in the world it is what everyone thinks of when they think AI because of movies like The Terminator, or Blade Runner to name a few. Also games like Detroit become human, or games that used AI to create better NPCs like Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA V, or Halo Reach. All of those examples show why we think humanoid when we think AI.

But then there are actual AI that are humanoid or are given control over a humanoid form. One of the more viral examples is Ameca a robot which can move just like a human and while it can talk it is still just in development as according to the creator. But Ameca may be able to move like a human it is still no where near the machine mapping and movement of Boston dynamics robots which have shown to be able to move with impressive speed and agility for their weight.

So while Ameca isn't made for conversation and probably won't be for a while there is a robot made just for conversations and that is Sophia a robot with an AI made to understand visual, conversational, and emotional data to create a human experience when conversing with Sophia. But most AI aren't usually made for things like conversation and to pass the Turing test or Imitation game a test to see if a robot could pass for human. But the most common type of AI is artistic AI to convert simple drawings or words into great works of Art. But what if those AI were given a human form and no more prompts to follow what would it make well that was the question posed for the creators of Ai-Da a robotic artist who usually creates abstract art or portraits but is able to present it's art alone showing that it does have the ability to determine the meaning or create one usually alone or others will create the meaning. But these are the most prominent examples because of their human nature like how Ameca went viral because everyone was freaked out or intrigued by its human movement. Then Sophia became a big face in the Humanoid AI because its conversational skills have allowed it to perform interviews and sing duets with Jimmy Kimmel which is where it gained most of its prominence. Then there is Ai-Da and where her fame came from was the fact that she was able to create art from scratch and was able to present said art by herself. But all of these humanoid AI are just the tip of the iceberg as these usually are what we think of due to media ingraining it in our head and AI like these but most AI are used for simple or interesting art or terrain traversing. But in reality we also think shiny metal man when we think of AI because it is our fascination with something that can act and seem human without looking it and Science Fiction constantly produces movies where the world is so controlled by AI that everything is so white pristine and shiny which is the way the robots look when you search AI into google.
